Mid Cork It’s been a busy month with Cúl Camps starting all over the county. Over half of the Mid Cork Cúl Camps have taken place and all have been exceptionally well organised with plenty of great coaches and 100’s of happy children. This is a testament to the great work being done at club level and huge credit should go to all camp coordinators for ensuring all camps run smoothly.
Aine Murray GDA *Áine Murray who currently oversees the Mid Cork Region is to leave her post in mid August to pursue other career interests.We would like to express our appreciation for the professionalism and enthusiasm she showed in her job and wish her the very best of luck in the future.
The West u13 hurling/football development squad players have been out in great numbers over the month of July. It started out with combined sessions of both F/H in Skibbereen, Bandon, Kilmacabea, Ballinascarty, with a total of 125 players attending each week.
The squad has now been split with 120 at football and 80 in the hurling squad. A football session was held in Ballineen with 105 players attending with 3 games (90 players) been played at the same time with each player getting a minimum of 2 games.
A hurling session was held in Bandon with 60 players attending with each player getting game time. All these sessions are in preparation for inter region blitzes in August in both football and hurling. These coaching sessions are open to any player U13 born in 2002.
The u 13 Programme outlined above is taking place throughout the county with each GDA managing hurling and football sessions in their Regions. The aims of this Programme is to identify talent for the Talent Academies commencing at u14 level and toallow all boys born in 2002 with the opportunity to train with players from outside their clubsand learn the basic skills from new coaches.
In the past month over 800 players have engaged with the Programme. While all Regions have played internal games there will be Inter Regional Blitzes on August 5th (hurling) and August 12th (football)
