Games Development Conference 2017

The 2017 GAA Games Development Conference will take place in Croke Park on Friday, January 6th and Saturday, January 7th 2017. The 2017 Conference will focus on issues related to players across the playing pathway (Child, Youth and Adult players).

On Friday, January 6th we will have a special Games Based forum, including presentations by expert Hurling and Gaelic football coaches.

Saturday, January 7th will see a spectacular range of speakers presenting both key note and parallel workshops. The full list of speakers is currently being finalised. In addition, we will have a specially constructed Researchers Exhibition, where a range of researchers from 3rd Level Institutions throughout Ireland will present on their ongoing work, and how it can influence the work of GAA coaches.

There will be a specific opportunity for members of the Games Development Personnel to meet with speakers at special Q&A sessions held throughout the day.

Conference Theme: ‘It’s all in the Game’ 

The GAA Games Development Conference will take place on Friday, January 6th 2017 – Saturday, January 7th, 2017. The Conference contains an exciting line up and will be an invaluable event for Coaches across the player development pathway (coaches of Child, Youth or Adult players). The following delegate centred improvements have been made based on a comprehensive delegate survey, which was completed after last year’s Conference:

Conference Structure

Friday Session: GAA Games Development Forum
A series of short presentations from high level speakers. Speakers will have 15 minutes (maximum) to discuss their topic. There will be a maximum of 5 speakers, followed by a panel discussion on the implications for implementing a Games Based coaching strucuture.
Saturday Session: ‘It’s all in the Game’
The Saturday session will be a mixture of key note and parallel sessions on issues related to the practical expression of the Coach10/MVA programme.
Parallel sessions will allow for the exploration of the key areas of Coach10/MVA – Motivation, Vocational, Attributes. Key note sessions will bring overall clarity to the model and explore the centrality of Values.

Researchers Presentation Area:
The 2016 Researcher’s Presentation area proved to be a significant success. This will be continued in 2017 and will include a series of short video clips from each presenter outlining the key aspects of their presentation that will be made available to delegates.

Exhibitors:
A limited number of exhibition spaces are available for supplier organisations. For the 2017 Conference this Exhibition Village will be located alongside the Conference main hall.
