(v) Rebel Og Academy
Dates have now been agreed for all development squad activity across the summer and all county managers met Rebel Og officers last week to agree protocols for the season. The announcement of all mentors will follow, along with the programme of dates in the near future.
U13s Regional sessions
After the massive turnout of U13 players at regional venues with the GDAs in February, all players will be called in again for hurling, football and physical development session on Tuesday, March 22nd. All boys will be contacted directly by GDAs and details will be circulated to clubs in advance.
(vi) GDA Activity
In recent weeks, North GDA Pat Spratt has organised club workshops / club visits in Croke Rovers, Glanworth, Boherbue, Kilshannig, Kildorrery and Banteer. On tonight, March 7th the warm-ups workshop takes place in Mallow and on Saturday, march 12th a Monster Blitz Workshop from 4-5pm, also in Mallow. All U6,U8 & U10 coaches are asked to attend along with all the young referees in the region. On Friday, March 11th Ballyhea GAA Club will launch their club coaching plan in the clubhouse. Programmes are also currently running in the following post primary schools: Millstreet Community School, Davis College, Mallow; and the following primary schools Rockchapel, Kilcorney, Banteer, Ballygowan, Killavullen, Ballyhea, Charleville CBS, Dromahane, Bweeing, Cloughula, Buttevant and Lisgriffin.
South-side Paudie O Brien has recently held club visits with St Michael’s , Blackrock, Nemo Rangers, Passage and Carrigaline .He also helped launch the Shamrocks GAA club coaching plan 2016-2021. Thank you to Patrick Andrews and his coaching committee for their excellent work in producing this plan. He also assisted St Michaels GFC who have began a six week coaching plan in both schools in Mahon. TY Courses have been completed in both Douglas CS and St Peters Passage CS with a 1st Year football Blitz held in Passage this week and Douglas CS next week.
West GDA James McCarthy has visited the following clubs over the last few weeks: O Donovan Rossa, Canovee, Iveleary, Bantry Blues, Kilmeen, Adrigole and Cill Na Martra with further visits booked for Kilmurry, Clan Na nGael, St Mary’s and Tadgh Mac Carthaigh. At post primary level James is currently visiting St Fachtna’s, Rossa College, Beara CS, Colaiste Ghobnatan, Mc Egan’s College, De La Salle Macroom and Ballingeary. These visits incorporate coaching 1st & 2nd years and TY foundation courses. At primary school level he is currently visiting schools in the catchment areas of the following clubs: St James, Tadgh MacCarthaigh, Kilmeen and O’Donovan Rossa. Meanwhile Foundation and Award 1 coaching courses are about to begin in Dunmanway & Clonakilty, respectively.
East GDA Shane Supple has been busy visiting local Primary schools in Ballynoe, Park,, Saleen, Carrigtwohill, Glanmire and Midleton where he is running a TY course in Midleton Community College. He has visited the following clubs Lisgoold, Fr O Neills, Kiltha Og, Erins Own, Fermoy, St Catherines, Castlelyons, Killeagh presenting Benchmarking certificates and discussing Benchmarking and club development plans going forward. He has been working alongside the other GDA’s in providing Foundation Courses and Award 1 Courses throughout the county over the last number of weeks.
