News for Avondhu/Duhallow area for month of May
•In a new effort to engage more with coaches in the region, I will engage mentors in very specific workshops in pods of clubs by divisions. Clubs are asked to attend the workshop in their division or alternatively in another region if not possible to make their own one.

*Each workshop starts at 7pm and concludes by 8.30pm.

•I will be running Cul Camp workshops over the summer in clubs as well.

Clubs are asked to book pitch for all sessions, or hall for Nursery Content sessions.

Month of May National schools coaching Mitchelstown NS, Ballygiblin Ns, Ballyhooley Ns, Ballygowan Ns, Kilavullen Ns, Ballyhea Ns, Milford Ns, Dromina Ns, Newtown Ns, Donerale Ns Rolled out a programme of coaching in these schools from junior to second class pupils. Fundamental movements, learning new skills and A.B.C’s (FUN)
16th and 18th May NS 3rd class Hurling blitz Mallow and Banteer 2 blitz’s were held in the North region this month for all National School 3rd class pupils to participate in. Between the 2 venues over 450 pupils participated and a great couple of days were had and everyone enjoyed their days hurling.
Month of May Post Primary schools Boherbue C.S., Scoil Mhuire Buttevant, Davis College Mallow, Colaiste Treasa Kanturk, Scoil Mhuire Kanturk, Patrician Academy Mallow and Millstreet CS. Continuing the first / second year programme in all these schools from last month.
Month of May monster blitz’s u10 leagues
Blitz’s continued this month with and going very well for the most part in the region, but some clubs are still yet to send a team to a blitz which is disappointing.
u6 football and hurling blitz’s started this month.
Month of May U14, 15, 16 Regional squads
U14 football and hurling regional squads are training away for their inter-regional tournaments. The footballers, played a Munster inter-regional challenge tournament in Mallow against teams from Limerick, Clare and Tipperary.
– Cork u15 and 16 hurlers are still training for their inter-county tournaments this summer.
– Cork U15 and 16 footballers have finalised their squads now and are preparing for their Munster tournaments in the summer, they are well represented by players from the North region again.

Month of May Cork County minor and u17 Squads
Congratulations to all those involved with Cork minor and u17 football and hurling squads.
The u17 hurlers won their Munster final, while the footballers were beat in their final.
The minor footballers were also beat in their Munster final while the hurlers are preparing for their simi final Vs Tipperary.
The North region is again well represented on all of these squads with 8 players on the u17 football and 10 players on the minor football squads and 5 u17 hurlers and 6 minor hurlers on the squads.
May Club Visits Mallow, Kanturk, Newmarket and Kilavullen These 4 clubs, along with Charlaville, have been chosen through benchmarking for additional assistance from the GDA where I will be doing 8 visits in each club throughout the year.
May Workshops
Club and region workshops took place in the following clubs during the month:
Charlaville, Ballyhea, Mallow, Newmarket, Fermoy, Ballyhooley, Kanturk, Kilavullen and Buttevant
u5-u10 football and hurling regional workshops were run for all clubs in the region to attend.
10th of May Primary school teachers coaching course’s Banteer Liam O’Reilly and Pat Spratt hosted a Gaa coaching workshop for national school teachers. The course will covered all activities such as fundamental movements, agility, balance, co-ordination, and challenging children to use their hands and feet simultaneously. It was a big success and many of the teachers said it would be of assistance to them, not just those dealing with PE but that it can be integrated with the SPHE programme to help children experiencing poor motor skills
Upcoming  Events
Month of June Primary schools coaching Mitchelstown NS, Ballygiblin Ns, Ballyhooley Ns, Ballygowan Ns, Kilavullen Ns, Rockchapel Ns, Tullylease Ns, Rolling out and continuing a coaching programme to all pupils from Junior infants to 2nd class in fundamental movements, skills and fun games.
8th June NS 2nd class football blitz Mallow All Primary schools in the region are being invited to attend a 2nd class football blitz on Thursday 8th June in Mallow. This is a great oppertunity for young school kids to represent their school, many for their first time.
Month of June Post primary Schools Coaching Colaiste Mhuire Buttevant, Davis College Mallow, Boherbue CS, Patrician Academy Mallow, Colaiste Treasa Kanturk and Scoil Mhuire Kanturk, Nagle Rice Donerale and Milstreet CS.
Certificates for TY pupils who successfully completed the Foundation Coaching course in their schools and clubs were presented as well as the Munster gaa tops for the first years who won the blitz’s in their respective schools also presented.
Month of June U13 football and hurling pods all across the north region The u13 football and hurling pods will be starting up this month in different venues across the region. details will follow to coaching officers.
