On Saturday evening Jan 30th 2016 in the Clayton Silversprings Hotel many awards were given out. Among the winners on the night were seven clubs from around the county who received the much coveted Gold Accreditation Award in Benchmarking 2020 for 2016.
Rebel Óg Coaching Benchmarks 2020 provides a template for best practice in coaching, promoting maximum participation and optimal playing standards in juvenile clubs throughout Cork city and county. The programme includes minimum requirements for entry, with subsequent progression to Bronze, Silver or Gold targets, which clubs would strive to achieve with the assistance of their local Games Development Administrator (GDA) Click here for more information on your GDA.
To achieve the highest award “Gold Accreditation”, clubs have to fulfil many requirements. These range from having structures in place to cater for a Youth Player Coaching Plan, with a minimum number of games to be played, Academies, provide coach education courses and workshops, Post Primary SLO, Physical Development Program with an option to provide TY Coaching Courses, Young Referee Courses, Super Touch Blitzes & have a Youth Player Coaching Plan. The club must have a 6 week club coaching programme for youth players, an Active Post Primary schools liaison officer and serve on local post primary schools committees. As you can see the list is extensive for Clubs to reach Gold Accreditation at this Benchmarking 2020 level.
